Zhou Jinyan, Associate Professor at SAGGAS, Master’s Supervisor at Shanghai Academy of Global Governance and Area Studies, Shanghai International Studies University.
She has done extensive field-based research on international development cooperation and Africa-China relations in many African countries, especially in Ethiopia, Tanzania and Angola. Her earlier work centered on the comparative political economy of foreign aid, particularly its impact on African economic and political development. She is also deeply engaged in exploring African agency and autonomy. Her current work examines China-African cooperation on mineral resourcesand the ESG performance of Chinese mining companies.
Her scholarly contributions include publications in core Chinese journals,along with two monographs International Development Cooperation and Africa’s Development Path Exploration (2024) and China-Europe-Africa Trilateral Cooperation: A Feasibility Study (2019).
She has held visiting positions in German Development Institute (2016) and SOAS, University of London (2024). She is a Council Member of the Chinese Association of African Studies and a fellow of the UK-China Humanities Alliance for Higher Education (UKCHA). She is also an alumna of the Managing Global Governance (MGG) program at the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS), and of the German Federal Foreign Office’s Diplomacy by Networking program.
