On May 7, 2025, the Symposium on Germany's New Government and Current International Situation, jointly organized by the Institute for European Studies of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) and the Shanghai Institute for European Studies, was successfully held at SISU.The event adopted a hybrid format combining online and offline participation, attracting over 50 experts and scholars from China and Germany.
The symposium focused on two key themes: The Formation of Germany's New Government and Its Current Situation and Responses from the EU and Major European Countries to Germany's New Government. Participants conducted in-depth discussions and professional analyses on hot topics including the composition of Germany's new cabinet, the evolution of Franco-German relations, and the transformation of EU governance. The meeting concluded that the policy direction of Germany's new government would have profound implications for the European landscape, presenting both new opportunities and challenges for the development of Sino-German relations.
