The 2026 Namibia Media and Think Tank Delegation Study Program, co-hosted by the Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs Office and Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) and organized by the Shanghai Academy of Global Governance and Area Studies, concluded successfully in Shanghai. The program brought together 11 representatives from Namibian government agencies, media outlets, and research institutions for thematic seminars and field visits exploring Chinese modernization, China-Africa cooperation, and high-quality economic development.

The delegation attended three lectures on Chinese modernization, China's economy, and China-Africa relations, and conducted field visits across Shanghai including the site of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, a whole-process people's democracy practice center, the Shanghai Meteorological Museum, the Hongqiao Import Commodity Exhibition and Trading Center, Maqiao Township Government, a housing project for urban builders and managers, robotics firms Whalebot and TiHu Technology, Shanghai Media Group, and a humanoid robot incubator.
Liu Guangyong, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, and Wang Xin, Vice President of SISU, attended the opening and closing ceremonies. Liu noted that Namibia is an important Chinese partner in Africa and that 2026 marks the 70th anniversary of China-Africa diplomatic relations, expressing hope that the program would deepen mutual understanding and serve as a bridge for friendly cooperation. Wang stated that SISU would leverage its academic strengths to advance exchanges and talent programs with Namibian institutions, injecting new vitality into the comprehensive strategic partnership.
At the July 3 closing ceremony, Namibian representatives thanked the organizers and said the program had strengthened traditional friendship and offered valuable reference for Namibia's governance and social development. Wang expressed SISU's readiness to deepen regular cooperation with Namibian media, think tanks, and universities to sustain momentum for the bilateral partnership.
